Wines You Thought You Hated — Wed, November 18th
This tasting will take place on Wednesday, November 18th, from 7 to 8:15pm.
Clichés and stereotypes make life easier, but they also make it boring. We've all heard it: "I don't like oaky Chardonnay." "Riesling is too sweet." "Natural wine tastes like barnyard." And sure, there are plenty of bad versions of all of those things. But the problem isn't the grape, or the style, or the region. It's what happened to it along the way.
Mass commercialization and industrialization have done more damage to wine than the perm trend ever did to the 1980s. But there are winemakers out there who are doing things differently. Who are making oaked Chardonnay that is actually delicious. Who are making Riesling with a touch of residual sugar that pairs like a dream with your spiciest momos or curry. Who are making natural wines that are feral and alive and might just give you a new perspective on life's deepest existential thoughts.
This session is an invitation to take a walk on the wild side. To flirt with the best versions of the wines you thought you hated. To fall in love again, or at least to admit that maybe, just maybe, you were wrong.
This guided tasting includes 5 wines, with 2oz pours of each. Enough to taste, explore, and get a real sense of each bottle.
