Riesling and Pinot Gris

Amanda Schroeder grew up among the bottles in her mom’s Alberta wine shop, but it was in Ontario that she found her calling. After years in the not-for-profit world, she decided to create the wines she felt were missing here—wines with soul, skin-contact, and a story. Somewhere Wines is that dream made real.

This vibrant orange blend is her opening statement. A co-ferment of 52% Pinot Gris (from Four Mile Creek) and 48% Riesling (from Creek Shores), it’s built on patience and touch. The grapes were hand-harvested just days apart in September, then underwent 12–14 days of skin contact with gentle hand punch-downs twice daily. Wildly fermented, aged four months in neutral oak, and bottled unfined, unfiltered, and on lees, this is wine that isn’t made—it’s nurtured.

The result is textured, vibrant, and totally alive: think sun-warmed peach, dried apricot, and bee pollen lifted by Riesling’s electric zip and a haze of wildflower honey. It’s glou-glou with gravity, a wine that’s as fun to drink as it is serious to make.

Pair with spicy carrot ginger soup, falafel with tahini, or a soft cheese plate with quince paste.

This isn’t just orange wine—it’s a new somewhere for Ontario wine to go.
