Pranzegg 'Vino Rosso Leggero' 2025
Alto Adige, Italy
Schiava and Lagrein
Exactly the wine you want when you want something light, easy, and juicy but also secretly interesting. Martin and Marion tend to all their vineyards biodynamically on the slopes of the Bolzano valley, in Alto Adige. At Pranzegg they have a holistic approach to agriculture. They work with people, vines, fruit trees, plants, soil, bees, chickens, and cats. Yes, cats! The whole ecosystem. The vines are trained in the traditional pergola, which means when you walk through the vineyard you're walking through these fantastic tunnels covered with grapes. It's beautiful. You should see the photos.
The wine is a blend of 95% Schiava and 5% Lagrein. It's light, easy-drinking, and juicy, but it packs many different flavours. 50% was just direct press, and the other 50% of the grapes got 24 hours of skin contact, to get that 'light red' name the wine goes by. Super low sulphur at bottling, after a quick 6 months of ageing in botti and concrete. Slightly chill it and enjoy. An easy-drinking wine that never gets boring.
