Founded in 2004, Okro's Wines focuses on producing fine natural wine from regional Eastern Georgian grape varieties. All of Okro's wines are made with traditional Georgian techniques, and grapes are harvested organically with no chemical additives. Six Georgian varieties grow on their 5.5-hectare estate. Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane, Saperavi, Budeshuri, Tsolikouri, and Tavkveri.
This is an orange wine that's more extreme and intensely amber in colour. On the palate, it's dry and tannic and a bit cloudy. Full of character to say the least, and in a great way. Winemaker John Okruashvili vinifies this wine in qvevri for 18 months. If you're new to orange wine, this might be a lot. If you're not, this is exactly what you're looking for. Please mind that there are a sh*t ton of floaties and sediments at the bottom of the bottle, so handle with care and be ready for the ride. It's an absolutely wild and wonderful one.
