Côtes de Provence, France
Grenache, Cinsault, and Mourvèdre
Cap Bénat is a tiny rocky point on the Mediterranean coast of the Var, tucked into one of the most beautiful protected sites in Europe. Léoube sits an hour from Saint-Tropez, overlooking Bormes-les-Mimosas, facing the Îles d'Hyères. It's obscenely pretty.
Your jaw will drop the moment you look at the photos of the domaine. Imagine a watercolour painting with the prettiest Mediterranean blue as the backdrop, a patch of land with terracotta-tainted soils, gnarly bush vines, protected by olive trees, lavender fields, and the evergreen Mediterranean pines.
Léoube has been organic since before it was a thing. They've been making wine that captures the smell of that landscape and the savoir-faire of the region for years. This rosé is a blend of Cinsault, Grenache, and Mourvèdre. Don't be fooled by the pretty pale pink colour. Once you smell and taste it, you'll be amazed by the depth and savouriness hiding behind that blush.
Happy summer of Léoube to those who celebrate.
