Clos del Rey
Le Sabina Vermell Maury Sec
Le Sabina Vermell Maury Sec
Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Grenache, Carignan, and Syrah
Everyone knows the Maury for its sweet wines—but Clos del Rey didn’t follow suit. Established in 2001 by Julien Montagné and his family, this estate rebels quietly in the heart of the appellation, crafting only dry, powerful reds that speak of sun, stone, and defiance.
Le Sabina is their flagship—a bold, bush-vine blend of Grenache, Carignan, and Syrah grown on steep slopes of black schist that glints like dragon scales under the Roussillon sun.
The wine itself is the cozy sweater you reach for when autumn first chills the air—warm, comforting, and full of character. Dreams of blueberries dipped in sticky liquorice reduction, wild thyme, and the scent of a shattered rocks warmed by the sun. Wildly aromatic, with abundant tannins polished by intense fruit.
Pair it with grilled lamb chops, slow-cooked beef stew, or a hearty mushroom ragù.
