In 2003, Josep Grau came back to the land where he was born and started making wine. He now farms 26 hectares across Priorat and Montsant, at different elevations, on a mix of llicorella (slate), chalky clay, and decomposed granite. Organic certified, no herbicides, no pesticides. The Tinto is mostly Garnacha with Cariñena and a little Syrah. Native fermented, aged six months in concrete tanks.
Scrubby herbs, broken stones, black raspberry but also wild cherry, perfumed dark plum, cracked pepper. A very pure, very pretty expression of place and grapes. Drink it with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, anything from the garden.
