Inserrata 'Inusuale' Blanc de Noir 2024

This is a white wine made from red grapes. Sangiovese, to be exact. When you press red grapes gently and don't let them macerate on their skins, the juice comes out clear. It's called a blanc de noir. And it's honestly one of the most confusing and delightful things you can put in a glass.

The first time I tasted this, I was genuinely taken aback. It drinks like a very good Chenin. And I hate comparisons, but how else do you explain what a blanc de noir from Sangiovese tastes like? It's got lemon peel, lime zest, grapefruit, a little grapey thing, green apple, pear, and subtle hints of wisteria,. It's fun. It's sneaky. It's the perfect wine to bring to a blind tasting and watch everyone's faces scrunch up trying to figure out what it is.
