Listán Blanco

Envínate is a collective of winemakers, four friends from four different regions of Spain. Roberto Santana is from Tenerife, which is where this wine comes from. Palo Blanco is a viticultural zone within Los Realejos, an area famous for the quality of its Listán Blanco. Los Realejos is the western-most village in the Orotava Valley. Envínate sources grapes from five different plots here, with the highest vineyards pushing 850 metres. Black volcanic basalt soils, Atlantic humidity and freshness. Whole clusters pressed, juice settled overnight, then fermented without skins or malolactic conversion. Large concrete tanks, indigenous yeasts, no temperature control. Ten months in two 2,500-litre oval Friulian foudres build texture without interrupting that volcanic nerve. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, minimal sulphur.

The 2021 vintage ran cooler and later here than the rest of Tenerife. Altitude and Atlantic exposure shielded the grapes from the August heat, so the wine came out vibrant, fresh, precise. The nose has a light reductive quality that blows off into flowers and herbs. The palate is electric, saline, linear.

Palo Blanco has always been my favourite Envínate wine. I'm genuinely stoked to have it in the shop.
