Domaine de Mauperthuis crafts this unicorn wine just next door to Auxerre, and a quick 90 km east of Sancerre. It grows in the same chalky, mineral-rich soils and dances with the same electric energy as a Loire—but for a way more friendly price.

Bright and electric, with tons of pink grapefruit, mandarin zest, and juicy white peach leaping from the glass, followed by crushed blackcurrant leaves and a whisper of lychee. The palate is where it gets intriguing—textured and soft, almost floral, with a flinty minerality that anchors the finish with classic Burgundian class.
