Under the rocks, crickets. That's what the name of this wine means.
In St. Jean, the soil is nothing but white gravel. Under those rocks, during the hottest part of the Mediterranean day, countless crickets find shade. At night, they come out to play. This wine is named after them. Isn't that super cute?
The wine is a blend of Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, Grenache, and Terret Noir. Eight days on the skins, aged in tank only. Fresh red currant, plum skin, rose, a little citrus. Pretty, in the way that a wine can be pretty after being made with grapes that are veeeery dark. The palate is cool and silky, full and velvety, with earthy plum, black raspberry, hints of liquorice and minerals. A nice chalky texture on the finish.
A perfect hamburger wine. Or with grilled vegetables. Serve it cool.
