Bérêche et Fils Champagne Brut Réserve
Champagne, France
Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier
Bérêche has taken its rightful spot among the top grower Champagnes. Founded in 1847, this family estate sits northwest of the Montagne de Reims, where the soils are chalky and the vines are farmed organically. Raphaël and Vincent Bérêche are the fifth generation, and they're making Champagnes that are genuinely stunning. The Brut Réserve is their entry-level wine, a blend of the classic trio Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier, that tastes anything but entry-level. Indigenous yeast, minimal dosage. The wine is expressive and precise, with a bright copper colour and a texture that feels like it's been sculpted with salt.
Delicate and saline, i t's ripe donut peach and expensive butter croissant, toasted cashews, a flaky Maldon salt finish (yes, a bit of salt, again). It's a champagne to share with people you love.
