Nittnaus 'Arktikta' Pét-Nat 2024
Burgenland, Austria
Blaüfrankisch
Anita and Hans Nittnaus are in Burgenland, one of our favourite regions in Austria. Their family has been in Gols, on the shores of Lake Neusiedl, since 1684. Hans' grandfather Johann established the current estate in 1927, and Anita and Hans took over in 1985.
In a relatively short time, they became one of the leading wineries in the Neusiedlersee region and one of the best producers in Austria. Their vineyards stretch across the northern shore of the lake: the eastern side around Gols, with clay, loam, gravel, and sand, and the western side around Jois on the Leitha mountains, with slate and limestone.
If you've never had a pet-nat that thinks it's a red wine, meet Arktikta. This is Blaufränkisch in its most playful form. Unfiltered, cloudy, full of juicy dark fruit with a touch of chamomile. Bubbles so fine that make this borderline sparkling red light and airy. It's earthy, it's mineral, it's deep and fun.
Bring this to a friend's dinner party to break the ice at the very beginning.
