Manchuela is a spectacular, up-and-coming region in Castilla-La Mancha. Dramatic river valleys, cooling Mediterranean breezes, high elevations, rich history. The wines are just starting to get the attention they deserve. This is one of them.
This might be the cold red wine that saves you from the 33-degree heat, barbecue-grilling-adjacent scenario you're about to find yourself in. Screwcap for the babes who forgot their wine key at home. Twist and chug kind of situation.
It has a beautiful light ruby red colour. Raspberry, strawberry, cherry, pomegranate. All the berries and more. A touch of blackberry (see? more berries). A brushstroke of blood orange, a little mint. Hay, broom flowers, and a hint of hard candy. Tastes like fresh red fruit (and berries). Very good acidity, with a nice bitter finish that gives it length. Round and juicy, persistent, a little salty, a little minty. Savoury, delicious.
One litre. Drink it cold, with friends, outside.
