Garnacha
Las Uvas de la Ira, literally The Grapes of Wrath, is a quiet rebellion. Sourced from old vines clinging to the granite scree slopes of Sierra de Gredos, it’s a portrait of high-altitude grace, crafted by Curro Barreño (of Fedellos do Couto), who took over the pioneering vineyards of his friend, Dani Landi.
Here, Garnacha sheds its sun-baked skin and becomes something lifted, elegant, and fiercely mineral. Curro works with a light touch: fermentation with whole clusters in open oak vats, ageing for 10 months in large French foudres. The result is a wine of nervy energy and savory depth—think wild strawberry, white pepper, and crushed granite, wrapped in chalky, fine-grained tannins.
Pair with grilled lamb chops with rosemary, mushroom and thyme flatbread. Or a conversation that runs late into the night.
